Owner of Jennyoga: Live. Breathe. Do Yoga.® and residing president of the Yoga Teachers Association of Houston (YTAH), Jennifer Buergermeister, DD, NLP, LMT, CHt, ERYT - a "Facilitator of Change", yogini, author and speaker - has passionately studied many of the healing art techniques in Yoga, Qi Gong, Traditional and Transpersonal Psychology, Anthropology, Speech Communication, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Feng Shui, Jewish Mysticism and early Christianity, Body Talk, Reiki, and other quantum healing techniques to synthesize what she calls PsycheSynergy: Synergizing the Heart with the Mind, Body and Soul. Jen says often to her students, "Beyond change, you must also be the love you wish to see in the world."
Jen founded the Texas Yoga Association; and the Texas Yoga Conference in 2009 uniting YogaOne, Yoga West, Joy Yoga and Jennyoga in a collaborative effort to place Houston as a leading city offering quality yoga conferences. Jen said, “I believe in unity and I want to see Houston become a yoga mecca for millions of people to enjoy! Yoga shouldn’t be about competition, it should be about sharing an art that can help people awaken, grow and stay healthy.”
Jen is also the founder of Breathecure®, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising consciousness with quality breathing programs. Jen has great passion for change and building a city and world of compassionate and healthy humans. Breathe the Cure board member from Rice University and UTMB, Alejandro Chaoul Ph.D. is currently mentoring Jenny’s 30-minute presentation The FUNdamentals of Breathing for elementary school kids. Their motto is that the “missing link” between mind and body is the breath. Jen says, “When we can unite together with breath, there are only possibilities.”
Jennifer began graduate work in Transpersonal Psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA. In 2009, Jennifer is completing her masters in Transpersonal Psychology specializing in Health and Wellness, and transitions through life stages including grief and dying. In 1999, she graduated with honors from the University of Houston with a double degree: B.S. Psychology/Anthropology and B.A Journalism/Speech Communication. She traveled to China in 2002 to become a Feng Shui Practitioner and presents Feng Shui workshops with her dear friend Dak Kopec, Ph.D., author of the very first text book in Environmental Psychology.
Jennifer completed a 600-hour program in California in 2004 and became a master and trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming and Clinical Hypnotherapy. Jennifer has practiced yoga since 1992 and has studied Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara and Forrest Yoga with Swami Vidyadhishananda Giri, David Williams, Robert Boustany, Jonny Kest, Shiva Rea, John Friend and Ana Forrest respectively.
Jennifer teaches yoga at MD Anderson Cancer Center's Place...of Wellness, Your Body Center, The Houstonian Lite, The Jewish Community Center, The Briar Club and here at Jennyoga in the Houston's River Oaks area. Jennifer is an established and experienced speaker about the art of yoga to adults and children. She recently taught yoga to roughly 100 second graders at Robert's Elementary School in Houston and has presented at Emery Weiner, The Jewish Women's Federation, The Yoga Month Health Festival 2008 in Austin, and at many churches, synagogues, and other similar organizations. She also taught for three years at The Houstonian and The Good Space in Houston's prestigious Tanglewood area, and instructed at Tomball College, Hadassah and Beth Israel.
